Transplantation
Our lab undertakes various clinical and experimental transplant projects. The experimental work, headed by Dr. Liqing Wang, involves cardiac, renal and islet transplantation models in inbred mice includes. Dr. Wang has recently added murine heterotopic and orthotopic limb transplantation, and murine orthotopic lung transplantation, to our transplant repertoire.
Dr. Liqing Wang demonstrates his advanced microsurgical skills by undertaking mouse orthotopic lung transplantation with direct suturing of bronchi, and pulmonary arteries and veins, rather than using a standard cuff technique, in the video below (www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ThYAicOv1o). This advanced technique results in significant shortening of surgical time and improved survival and function.
